GUINEA: Is This What Democracy Looks Like?

Reports from Pita, Mamou, Labe, etc. continue to come in regarding the brutality of state security forces against Guineans of the Peul ethnic group.  The forces are entering homes, beating up the occupants, ransacking and stealing personal property.  A particularly disturbing report came from Pita in which security forces are entering homes, removing young Peul men, and taking them to undisclosed locations.  When people are taken out of their homes without cause to unkown locations, the outcome is likely to be grim.

Below is a photo of a young Peul in the Bambeto suburb of Conakry, minutes after a brutal beating by the military.  No doubt, citizens all over Guinea are wondering if this is what democracy really looks like.
