El Hadj Boubacar Barry, Former Guinean Ambassador to the US, Has Passed Away

The former Guinean ambassador to the US, El Hadj Boubacar Barry, passed away on June 17, 2014 at Holy-Cross Hospital in Washington, DC.
El Hadj Boubacar Barry is the son of Elhadj Youssouf Barry, brother of Almamy of Timbo. He was born on the 17th of July 1937 in Mamou, Republic of Guinea. He earned a degree in Civil Engineering in Russia and went on to obtain a post-graduate degree at the Polytechnic School of Montreal.
He held several positions in the Guinean civil service. He was ambassador to Saudi Arabia (1984-1988), Japan (1988 – 1992), and the USA (1992-1995).
El Hadj Boubacar Barry was married for more than 4 decades to Haja Oussamatou Balde. He had four children: Modi Oury, Zalikhatou (Lili), Shaikou Amadou Tidjani and Mariama Fayghatou.
