In addition to the protest, the police arrested and detained the Federal Secretary of the UFDG in Dakar, Elhaj. Sidy Boubacar Bah, who spent three hours at the police station. When Guinea’s Ambassador Keita realized he could not get a warm, substantial crowd at the airport in Dakar to greet Conde and that the opposition was going through with its plans to protest, he sought some “assistance” from Senegalese cops to detain opposition supporters. But, unlike Guinea, it is a new day with Macky Sall as president, and it would not be out of the question for him to ensure that the Guinean ambassador doesn’t use his cops again as his own private henchmen.
