It appears opposition forces are building a full-court press against Alpha Conde and his administration. Tomorrow, they will march again. Conde promises that those who attempt to march will be arrested. Guinea Oye is not sure how many people attended the march today, but arresting all those planning to march tomorrow seems like a tall order for the government. That is, unless security forces ring neighborhoods known to be favorable to the opposition. It is likely that security forces are in these neighborhoods already this evening doing “preemptive strikes.”
While the total number is not known yet, several hospitals and clinics reported receiving victims from the march. Many had serious head injuries caused by security officers striking them with their rifle butts. There have been deaths as well.
Below are pics posted to the UFDG site of some of those injured today.
