NEWS FLASH: Guinea Opposition Will Hold “Days of Protest” Septemer 27-30
The Guinean Opposition held a press conference today and issued a communique calling for its followers to hold nationwide protests from September 27-30 against the Alpha Conde administration. Protests outside Guinea will take place as well.
The communique states that on September 28, 2009, the people of Guinea said “NO” to Dadis Camara and on September 28, 2011, the people will say “NO” to Alpha Conde and will push the issue until the end. The communique describes Conde as man who is intent on inflaming the country.
In addition, the opposition is very concerned about recent developments concerning the CENI:
-The membership of the CENI
-The opposition was not consulted by CENI president, Lounceny Camara, on the date chosen for the legisative elections — December 29. Opposition members believe that the date was snatched out of the air to please an international community adamant about having legislative elections in 2011.
As more information becomes available, Guinea Oye! will report.
