Guinea Electoral Body Proposes Run-Off Presidential Vote Date of Aug. 14

 Guinea’s electoral commission proposed that a run-off presidential vote be held Aug. 14, spokesman Thierno Saidou Bayo said.

The commisssion is meeting the two presidential candidates to discuss the date as it wants to consult them before it’s fixed, Bayo told reporters in the capital, Conakry, today.

Cellou Dalein Diallo, a former prime minister, got 43.7 percent of the votes cast during the country’s June 27 election. Alpha Conde of the Rally for the Guinean People won 18.2 percent, according to the commission’s website.
